00002 - Who Are You?

Day 1, awakening + about 2 hours

You step through the white door. If some being was watching all of the clothers over the next few hours, they would be amused at the number of times that one clother would miss another because of timing in using the white portals, or taking different directions around the perimeter, or both resting simultaneously.

But, all comedic potential exhausted, eventually all 8 clothers would manage to come together in one of the corridors. You see that all 7 of the other people look exactly alike, and you take the word of the 7 others that you also look like each of them.

Each of you start saying who you are, and it takes very little time for you to determine that you know each other, or at least know of each other. As each person identifies himself, you recognize some of his 'personal history' as in keeping with your memories of that person. Other parts don't sound familiar, and some are just plain wrong. You notice that in all cases the life stories of the people are generally far better than the way you remember them, except, of course, for your own.

Personal Bios

This is what you hear from each person (Note to players: i'm well aware that this isn't the life YOU remember):

Dale

I'm from a large family. I spent some time in the USAF, where i learned electronics. After i got out, i moved to Dayton and worked at a few jobs until i got my engineeering degree, designed a secure transponder system, and started my own electronics company. My company supplied parts to the Air Force and commercial companies. I made a very good living from that.

I met most of you through one of my co-workers at a job i held while in college, and we socialized regularly, but i met Frank when i hired him to run security for my company. He did a good job, but we didn't socialize outside of work. I never marrried, but i did have a number of long term live-in girl-friends. I had no children.

endekks

My name was Jason at birth, but i changed it after i became a celebrity to protect my family's privacy. I am the son of someone who socialized with most of you, and i had a close relationship with a few of you apart from your relationship with him. I am a creative artist, working in both audio and video media. I worked assorted jobs in the advertising industry, working for and then running a few firms in the US and Japan. I married a girl i met in Japan, Momoko, and we had three awesome children.

When i was 34, i started a small business to bring musicians together over the internet. I ended up collaborating on a few songs which became mega-hits and brought me big bucks. Soon i was in demand as a live DJ/performer. I traveled the world showing people my music. My family enjoyed sharing the travel with me. My last memories are from a time that my youngest daughter was still in high school. All of my children grew up to be interesting and talented people, but my middle child never enjoyed music like the rest of us. Instead, he was obsessed with soccer!

Frank

I feel like the stranger here. I sure don't remember working security for Dale, but he's right i general about me doing that. I served 24 years in the USMC, mostly on missions i can't discuss with you. When i retired, i started a private security firm with a high-tech focus to help people with 'special problems'. The business was a bit under-the-radar, so i had a cover operation of a titty bar in Austin. Maybe 'cover' isn't the best word for that.

I married a few times, but it never seemed to work out like i wanted. I liked to draw pictures of the girls that worked for me. One of them was always chattering while i was drawing her. I got used to the chatter, and started to like it, so we moved in together. This one i didn't marry, but this one stayed. I was stil with her last thing i remember still runing the bar, and still taking 'bsiness trips' sometimes.

Guttyr

I was born with the name Darren, but i changed my name to Guttyr after the game i helped create took off. I studied neurosciences at university, and received my doctorate in that field. As a hobby, i had always played a lot of video games. I was asked to be the consultant on a new AI-focused game which was to be based on the latest advances in neural net theory. They liked some of my other ideas, so i got design credit, but i took that credit under the name Guttyr (my game handle), because i didn't want my professional colleagues to think less of me. It turned out they were all gamers, so eventually i made the name change permanent.

I married a fine woman named Amy who i met while in college. Amy worked with autistic children, and raised our own very well while i worked a lot of hours. We had 4 children, all of whom make me proud ever day of their lives. I was able to retire early to spend more time with my family by the time i was about 35. I took some philosophy courses, and dabbled in a few other areas of interest. My oldest daughter founded an environmental/social justice organization while she was still in high school. We ran it for her while she went to university, and we stayed active in it afterwards.

Jody

Hi, I'm Jody. I'm usually much bigger than this tiny body. I'm still getting used to looking you folks straight in the eye, instead of seeing the tops of your heads! I met most of you playing in radar's games. I married Barb and moved in with her and her kids near Scott & radar's houses while we were in our 20's. Frank, i remember you working for Dale when you joined our games.

Barb and i had our own girl, Cindy. I was a chef for some restaurants in Dayton until i opened my own restaurant downtown. It was a big success. Eventually i bought the building it was in and we moved in to live on its second floor. I set up the third floor with lots of computer monitors to host our weekly games, with some help from Frank. Once it was set up, we added a small bar and i set up a micro-brewery to make my own conconctions. Dale, Frank, and Mark hung out a lot there, playing games, listening to music, and helping taste-test my creations.

Mark

I'm an artist. I knew most of you through Scott or radar, who i met while in my 20's. I started doing custom paintings of musicians at that same time. Some of them were so well received by the musicians that they helped promote me to their friends and the public. I became pretty well known in that field and got top commissions for my work. I worked with Scott on refining my artistic skills. I offered to take him on as a staff artist, but Scott never wanted to join me in my work as a profession for himself.

I married Martha, who already had some kids, and we had two of our own. They were both in the middle of their college years at the time my memories stop. I founded a small company to help encourage struggling artists. I also did a lot of charity work through my church.

Scott

I'm the best mechanic in Dayton, as most of you should know! I moved to Dayton during high school. I married the girl i dated in high school. We had two daughters, both of whom studied nursing, and both of whom married great guys.

I worked at some factories for a while. When my brother died i took in one of his sons, Tyler. He was 15 at that time. I showed him how to work on cars, and pretty soon the two of us were doing more business than we could handle. We opened up a shop out in Beavercreek, and made a good living working on everything from hot rods to old appliances. I sold pot on the side, mostly just because i enoy smoking it. I always enjoyed playing in radar's games with most of you. I missed them after he died from that heart attack.

Tyler

My dad died when i was 15, so i went to live with my uncle Scott up north. He raised me good, but i never liked being up there. While i was living there i learned about cars and a lot of other stuff from uncle Scott, and about playing guitar from some of his friends. When i graduated from high school, i was already in a band which was real popular. I convinced them to move to North Carolina with me. We rocked, and we got popular there real fast. We traveled to Europe one time as part of a southern rock tour. I married a girl from my home town, but i cheated on her a lot while i was on the road.

She forgave me, and i settled down to try to make it up to her. I opened a club in Charlotte, and we moved there to raise our boys. The club did good, so we got to go visit Uncle Scott a few times a year. One of my boys started a band that played at the club when he was old enough. The other one did good on the racing circuit. I helped him work on his cars. I had a good life, but I didn't know most of you folks in it.
